• 2 litre diesel - Focus Error Code 21 Apr 2013 (Forum)
  Having Googled this code it said something about "PATS Received Incorrect Key-Code From Ignition Key Transponder" which may as well be a foreign language to me. The car runs fine, no problems at all. Both ignition keys are the originals. Anyone able to explain what this means and how to correct it.

  Today my Vito van, 2001, 108 cdi model, suddenly starting poring white smoke out the back, huge clouds of it. This is smoke, not steam, smells very smoky too! Van is running rough and went into limp home mode, not revving above 3000. No engine light on, no codes when scanned with OBD scanner. Can anyone advise on some tests I can do to work out what the problem is?

  Hello, Do any of the VW 1.6 TDI CAYA (75BHP) or CAYB (90BHP) engines come *without* a DPF as standard? I may need to replace my trusty 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.4Tdi (BNV version = no DPF) nicely run in after a faultless 165,000 miles. But I do  not want a DPF. If I cannot find a 1.6 TDI without a DPF then I guess I will just stick with my trusty Fabia.

  I only drice about 5000 per year and use the car for mainly local journeys. Want to buy new as it will probably be the last car I buy, so want one that is reliable, cheap to run & cheap to maintain. looking to spend between £17-£18K. Choices will probably be either Focus 1.6 TDCi Zetec, Hyundi ix35 1.6 GDi ISG Style or Toyota Auris 1.6 V-Matic Icon. Any advice on what you think or any other vehivle to put in the mix would be appreciated.

  After each job the clutch seems fine for a couple of miles and then starts to vibrate and then the clutch pedal drops to the floor and sticks there.. .. I have now oredered a new master cylinder to try this, as I am running out of ideas.. Can you please help...

  The engine has new Plugs, Leads & Coil Pack to successfully cure a misfire. I now have a jerky engine (misfire?) when running along with the engine just keeping up with the road speed (much more dramatic in 4th rather than 5th) - the slightest acceleration and on overrun seems to be OK. Also there is a noticeable lack of pulling power up hills and fuel consumption is down about 10%.

  Hi Just changed the injector seals on my 1.4 tdci i tried to start it and it would not start. i had bled the injectors before starting .... so i decided to tow it to start it this worked and car was running fine however the power train light flashed a couple times but went out and didnt come back..... went to start it this morning and nothing ... it turns over but it is not firing i also have a flashing power train light when i turn engine over ....... any ideas?

    xont  even  turn  over  just  clicks  xhen  i  turn  the  key.  it  xas  running  fine  up  to  this  apart  from  the  orange  eml  light  beginning  to  come  on  more  than  usual  cutting  poxer  to  turbo  etc.

  having only covered 200 miles last year and have just had an MOT 4 weeks ago. I have covered less than 10 miles since MOT yesterday I took the car out for a run, having covered 3or 4 miles the ABS warning came up on the dash with a red disc shape sign next to it also STOP consult manual could anyone help please

  Hi, The car runs fine when cruising along but when I accelerate there is a slight pause and stutter before it actualy accelerates. it also does it on cruise control when you lift the stalk. It's had a new egr about 5k ago as well as 4 injectors and loom on recall about a year ago.

  Hi have had problems with my zafira and alan has come back to me with directions to the throttlebody which we will be changing but we have reason  to believe the egr could also be the culprit on this one If you run it it ticks over fine,and eventually will cut out and have wait awhile before it will start again we would like to know if the pintle on the egr valve goes inside when its open or comes out as this was found to be dirty

  My son's VW Passat starts and will run (not smoothly though). When driving it has a tendency to cut out. Our mechanic put it on his computer and said that there were so many fault codes that it is not worth fixing. He mentioned things like crankshaft sensor.

  hi i have a 2000 vauxhall vectra 2.0 cdx  with x20xev ecotech engine which is running rich ie the sparkplugs are black a bit of research as to the cause of the problem has led me to belive the coolant temp sensor is faulty what i need to know is where is it located on the engine so i can replace it and are they expensive from a main dealer.

  Ive noticed lately there is water running down the passenger window wiper arm leading under bonnet, when the bonnet is open and u pour water on the window is appears to come though where the passenger arm goes through the plaster hole to the motor arm then drips down the back of the engine onto cable etc, is this normal?

It will be a genuinely expensive purchase, so no off thread banter would be much appreciated.So which diesel, BMW 3 series or Mercedes C class?

  Over past two months my engine management light has been on and off, but car running okay. A couple of occassion car reluctant ot start, but did eventually. Today after using the car, returned after 2 hours, car would not start first time, eventually did, engine management light flashing then on all the time, car idle very poor, sounds misfiring.

    Hi this is going to sound like a weird question but my bmw 330cd should run at 90 degs but the temp is only getting up to 65. I share a lift with 3 people 70 miles and sods law it's my turn to drive this week. so I can't do it untill the weekend. the question is if I drive in 5th it will go up to 70 degs. but if i put it into 6th it will go down to 60ish.but obvouisly the revs drop in 6th gear.

  My G reg VW Golf mk2 seems to slow down and almost stop for a couple of seconds when I accelerate from a standing start.. It then starts to pick up but still runs poorly and will cut out when I stop.  I know it is probably to do with the Pierburg 2e2 carb. Fuel pump pumping,  Visible jet at top under valve/flap jetting.  It just seems like on acceleration too much air is getting drawn in and is affecting the fuel mix.

    Our criteria is that the car will be used for a daily 100 mile comute on a mixture of A roads and country roads. Running costs are key as is comfort and reliability. Due to the area that the car is parked in it must not be to desirable to thieves. Budget upto 6500.   Any suggestions?
