  Initially, I thought it may be down to the cold snap, but the problem is still present. I have noted that my mpg has also started to drop. It is almost like driving with oval tyres on(I have checked them and they are fine)!!! Any suggestions what the problem could be?

  The french premier has also gone on record to phase out diesel across all of France, the home of cheap diesel where 80% of drivers drive diesel cars. No doubt it wont be long before more large cities and other countries make similar announcements. Might be a bad idea to buy a new diesel car before long?

  I'm looking at getting a new car and have narrowed it down to either an Audi A3 1.9 TDI (2009) or BMW 1 Series 118D (2010) with about 50,000 miles on a budget of around £9 to £10K.  I like the look of both and will be test driving them tomorrow but can anyone offer advice on the difference in maintenance costs and reliability.. are they much the same or do they differ a lot? Appreciate any advice on this one!

  I left them overnite and the next day they were fine ... now they wont go off again. The car is on the parked and doesn't have road tax so i cant drive it ... i thought it might be something to do with the battery "as its obviously going to die if not being driven". Any advice would be appreciated :)

  I was driving around the speed of 30 mph when I went over the pothole which my car just dipped slightly and it made little thump sound but the ride was quite rough when I went over it. I have an SRI astra with sport suspension and worried of damaging the suspension,steering wheel,tie rods/ball joints or car mechanical parts

   I am looking to buy a new or fairly new corsa. Changing from a 1.2 petrol 2008 design to diesel.  I drive mainly motorway and also some local and cover 350 miles per week. A monthly petrol spend is around £280. Confused about which is better for mpg the 1.3 or the 1.7?

  Hello, yesterday whilst driving into work I passed a camera van that was sat on the side of the road, this road is normally  50mph but is currently being resurfaced.  I was doing roughly 30mph coming round the corner, panic'd slightly at seeing the van and slowed down to 20mph that is marked at the start of the rough road by a 'max speed 20mph sign'.

  According to the manufacturer of my car my engine produces the highest torque figure between 1,600 and 1,800 PRM which equates to around 70 MPH in 7th gear (automatic). I generally drive between 60 and 70 on the motorway so the car tends to sit in the rev range where the torque output is in the 'sweet spot'. Question - is the car running at it's most efficient when the engine is producing maximum torque?

  hi sorry im new to this site i have a 406 2.0 litre hdi drives great but when i put my foot doen to over take it just cuts out and no lights come on on dash i changed diesel filter and still does it can any body help me please

  I picked up my Golf GT TDI 115BHP a month ago which is chipped to 147. The car has been fully serviced a month ago when I purchased the car, it drives very well. I'm rolling on 17" wheels can't help I'd imagine, so I've found a set of stock 16". My first tank gave me 42MPG & the second tank was 44MPG - surely I should achieve above 50MPG?

  Odd problem this. Drive car around - get home. Go out to move it after 15min won't start. Checked the ECU nothing showing up.  Am considering changing the 4pin temperature sensor. Cleaning up any manky plugs & sockets with Maplin Servisol Super 10 and suchlike.

  Diesel Alhamba, 2013, 7.5K miles. Just bought this vehicle, and something I didn't notice on the test drive is that the bite point on the clutch is very low - if I fail to press my foot all the way down and leave the pedal a few mm off the floor, I can feel vibrations coming through the pedal.  Is this normal, and I should just get used to it, or something to get fixed?

  Hi all, I hit a pot hole quite hard a few days ago and at first everything seemed fine, however the last couple of times I have taken the car out, the steering feels very heavy, the same sort of feeling as when you are driving on a flat tyre, although the wheel I hit appears to be fine by looking. Does anyone know what the problem is likely to be and if it's going to be expensive!!

  My car is one month out of warranty and I notice the TCS/DSC ( dynamic stability control)warning light stays on when driving, all other warning lights are off. Any ideas before I take it to a Mazda dealer, we do not have one in Gloucester and the dealer has just changed in Cheltenham so I do not know their track record

  Ford focus, intermittently judders and loses power. Usually after about fifty miles. Have replace fuel filter and pump. Drives fine for ages then shudders a bit. Then a mile or so on, just loses power over about thirty seconds. Mechanic says when he changed the filter, but before changed the pump, it did it all the time and wouldn't start properly.

  Have a W reg ford puma 1.7, needs a new exhaust as cat is on way out. Has done 127k miles - still drives nicely apart from an occasionally holding back due to the cat. Anyway MOT and Tax both expire end of month, have been quoted £450 for a new exhaust to be fitted, is it worth getting fixed or should I sell or scrap??

  Why do some drivers not use Bluetooth. Many if not most modern cars have this fitted. Yet day after day I see people driving around with mobile phones stuck to their ear. The last one I spotted was a 61 plate TDI Golf earlier today. It only takes a few minutes to do the initial pairing between mobile and car. Then after that it's done automatically each time you get in the car.

  I was informed that it was nothing serious but  there is obviously some issue with the brakes although it drives and brakes perfectly. any suggestions as to what the possible cause/remedy is would be  most apriciated. thanks.
