  Dear Forum Members, I would be extremely grateful if anyone could pass on any hints about what the problem may be with my Renault Clio II Petrol - 16 V Extreme 53 (approx 68,000 miles). It has been regularly serviced by Renault since I purchased it 6/7 years ago. I first noticed a loss of power and juddering so sent it to various mechanics. No fault codes were found on the Diagnostics machine from the first mechanic.

  In the latest issue of Bike magazine, there's a dyno test of ordinary 95 octane pump fuel versus Shell V-Power and BP Ultimate 102 (just £2.46 per litre!) They used two modern, high-performance bikes, a Suzuki GSXR1000 and the new BMW S1000RR. The results? Neither high-octane brew gave any more power or torque than ordinary 95 octane ... not even half a percent more.

  The motivation appears to be two-fold: to safeguard jobs in the bioethanol sector, and to reduce carbon emissions It is reported that the E10 gives a slightly poorer fuel economy (perhaps 1%) - and presumably a slight reduction in power output. This would seem to run completely counter to HJ's frequent exhortations to use V-Power or other premium fuels - I wonder whether he will comment in his column?

  I ran my Tank to near empty, 1 or 2 litres left and filled up a Full Tank on the V power.   I got 345 miles from the tank, thats an 85 mile increase. 26 mpg to 34.5,   To me thats excellent.  It costs £4 more to fill up on the V Power, Taking that into account, im still saving £10 every time i fill up and gaining 85 miles on a tank.

  To start, for anyone not aware of the fact, I drive an Omega. The Omega came second last in JD Power about three years ago. The odd thing is that I know three other people who own them, and the four of us all rant and rave (to the point of utter boredom) about what a superb car it is. Now, the only difference between my survey and JD Power's is the size of sample, but I find it a bit odd that our results should be so out of kilter.
