  • A Grand Monday: Citroen CX Familiale 23 Oct 2017 (News)
You could go for a tired Ford Galaxy, an aged Vauxhall Zafira or, if you're feeling brave, a Renault Espace. Or... you could have this - a car that makes an Espace seem like an eminently sensible purchase.  The seven-seat 'Familiale' version of Citroen's weird and wonderful CX is one of the most comfortable family classics you can find, and they very rarely come up for sale at all, especially not at this price.

  • Low-mileage Mercedes SL500 set for Coys Spring Sale 5 Apr 2017 (News)
Originally bought as a birthday present, the owner lost the keys and never used it again. Twenty-one years later the car shows only 80 miles on the clock and could fetch £55,000 when it goes under the hammer. Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys, said, ‘Had the owner not lost the keys and used it regularly, we estimate it would now be worth between £5000 and £7000, but the fact that it has kept such a low mileage and has not been driven in more than 20 years makes it worth between £45,000 and £55,000.’ The German coupe is just one of 70 classics going under the hammer at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, London, and includes a selection of Jaguars and Astons.

  • Motorists stand to save £10 a month as the cost of fuel plummets 17 Dec 2014 (News)
But there could be further good news for motorists, with some experts saying the cost of petrol could fall below £1 per litre. At 99 pence-per-litre, many petrol car owners would save more than £300 a year. "The cost of going to visit family and friends this Christmas will be the cheapest it’s been for nearly five years" RAC fuel spokesperson Simon Williams said: “The cost of going to visit family and friends this Christmas will be the cheapest it’s been for nearly five years, but the prospect of petrol going below £1 a litre in the new year is incredible, particularly when prices at the beginning of 2014 seemed to be heading ever upwards.

  • One-in-five drivers leaves oil checks too late 1 Jul 2013 (News)
Furthermore, when it comes to actually checking oil more than half (51.6%) of drivers let someone else do the job, whether that be a friend, relative or someone at a garage. 60.2% of respondents to the survey said they had their oil changed once a month at most, while 45.7% didn’t know what the recommended oil change interval for their car was. Tim Shallcross, Head of Technical Policy at the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), added: “Oil is the hardest working component in your engine; it makes the moving parts move more easily, keeps the hottest areas cool and absorbs harmful and corrosive exhaust fumes.  A low oil level or missed oil change is the quickest way to wear an engine out, which not only risks hazardous breakdowns, but can also knock hundreds of pounds off the value of your car.” Mobil 1 has produced a simple how-to for checking and topping up your engine oil, reproduced below.
