  • Drive it Day at Vauxhall's Heritage Centre 23 Feb 2009 (News)
And while the focus of the day will be Vauxhall’s own collection of over 50 classic Griffin-badged classics, from the earliest 1903 model to the iconic muscle cars such as the Lotus Carlton and Monaro VXR, access to the classic car area will be open to any make or model. In 2008, that included no less than four incredibly rare Citroen GSs, a Guy bus, a Rover P6 Estoura estate and a 1956 Chrysler Imperial, all of which just turned up on the day. And turning up on the day is the essence of the event. As well as classic cars, autojumblers are invited to just turn up and throw up their pitch in a special area reserved for jumblers, where classic fans can search for that elusive spare part.

  • Holiday Mood at Auction Today 16 Aug 2002 (News)
I thought a pretty 27,000 mile 99T Toyota Celica 2.0GT also looked dear starting at a low £7,000 but selling for a strong £9,300. A 68,000 mile 99T Citroen Berlingo 1.8 3-door with full length sliding roof sold for a surprisingly high £4,150. A few traders were complaining that they simply couldn't buy low enough to leave themselves any forcourt profit.
  • Fickle Market Reflected at Auction 26 Apr 2002 (News)
Which is why a six month old 2001/51 Peugeot 607 2.2S auto with 24,000 miles attracted almost zero interest, starting at a pretend £11,100 with final bid of a provisional £12,550 to the waste-paper bin by the door. Same sort of story for Citroen C5s, now apparently subject to more recalls than the Pop Idol voting lines. £8,500 bid for a 13,000 mile 2001/51 1.8LX? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Joe Pub also seems to have been frightened off Alfa 156s with the brilliant-in-theory Selaspeed gearbox.

  • Today’s Auction Prices Broadly in Line with Glass’s new Valuations 1 Aug 2012 (News)
There’s no Book on the Pink, but the 09 Pop was very much in line with the new Book condition ratings, and the 09/59 Dualogic was only over by the original cost of its Metallic paint. A 23k mile 2010/60 Citroen DS3 1.6 HDI Black made significantly more than its new Book, selling to a top bid of £10,300. That doesn’t mean the Book is wrong. Just that someone wanted it so much they were prepared to pay £1,000 over.

Here’s the list. As usual, ‘s’ means sold. ‘p’ means top provisional bid, ‘pc’ means provisional, but close.
  • Auction Prices Starting to Edge Up 3 Dec 2007 (News)
A 69k mile 02/51 PT Cruiser was an oddball buy at £2,700. And some of the cheap cheapies were really cheap. Perhaps not the 95k mile 97P Citroen AX 1.0i Dimension gone to become someone’s son’s first car for £275. But £500 for a virtually one owner 89k mile 94L BMW 730i? And a 116k mile 94L Mazda 626 2.0iGLX 5-dr gone for £200?
