Today’s Auction Prices Broadly in Line with Glass’s new Valuations

Today was the first day of the new ‘Book’. Glass’s Guide has revised its trade price structure, now showing an average trade price and trade prices broken down by three levels of condition. So, it seemed appropriate to drive down to Blackbushe and get my feet back on the auction floor.

Today, I looked in on a couple of fleet sales by Lombard and Leaseplan, some Inchcape part-exchanges, some nearly-news from Volvo and an interesting selection from UK Car Group, including a 9k mile 12 reg Range Rover Evoque 2.2SD4 Prestige auto, not yet in the Book.

The Evoque started at £34,000, seemed to attract some genuine bids from the floor, and reached a provisional £36,000 against a new list price of £38,580.

Also not yet in the Book, a 15k mile 11 reg Volvo V60 D3 R Design apparently sold for a massive £18,800.

Of special interest to me were three FIAT 500s. A basic, scruffy 31k mile 09 1.2 Pop in Bossa Nova white sold for £5,200; a Pearl White 25k mile 2009/59 1.2 Pop Dualogic with no a/c made £6,500, and a 32k mile 10 reg 1.2 Pink with the new suspension sold for £7,900. So no danger of 500 prices taking a tumble just yet.

There’s no Book on the Pink, but the 09 Pop was very much in line with the new Book condition ratings, and the 09/59 Dualogic was only over by the original cost of its Metallic paint.

A 23k mile 2010/60 Citroen DS3 1.6 HDI Black made significantly more than its new Book, selling to a top bid of £10,300. That doesn’t mean the Book is wrong. Just that someone wanted it so much they were prepared to pay £1,000 over.

Conversely, a 28k mile 09 Ford Ka 1.2 Studio (that’s really a FIAT 500 in Ford overalls) sold for just £4,100, which is pretty much what the Book said it should make.

New Book average trade price for a 2008/58 Ford Fusion 1.4TDCI Zetec Climate with an average 43k miles is £4,550, so the three at Blackbushe with lower than average mileage still made over book, assuming, of course, they were really sold.

The three 09 reg MINI Cooper 1.6 Ds with a/c were broadly in line with Book adjusted mileage. The three 09 reg Audi A3 1.9TDI Sportbacks were pretty much bang on mileage and condition adjusted Book.

(As usual, ‘s’ means sold. ‘p’ means top provisional bid, ‘pc’ means provisional, but close. ‘n/s’ means not sold. ‘n/w’ means miles not warranted. ‘MNW’ means unknown mileage. ‘dmg’ means damaged. D/R means damaged and repaired. ‘fl’ means facelift. ‘H/T’ means hardtop. ‘imp’ means unofficial import. Extras like ‘lthr’ and ‘sat’ are specified when they are not standard.)

Range rover is my favorite car. it looks so graceful in black color. I have been always a fan of Range Rovers and I understand that Ford and Range Rover are under the same company, but I like this one.
