Modern mainstream cars are boring. 10 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Having recently upgraded to the plush luxury (relative to what I used to have) of a 2001 Honda Accord 2.0 SE Exec, I can't help but feeling nothing more than "content". Wondering if it was just my choice of an old man's car (I'm only 27) that was causing my perfectly comfortable but equally dull driving experience I had a thrash about in a few other cars. Father in-law's 110bhp 1.9TDi Golf (Mk4) Friend's 1.8 GTi Golf (Mk4) Friend's 2.0 GTi Golf (Mk3) Brand new 1.6 Civic (courtesy car - now that did get a serious thrashing) - my Accord was in for a minor hi-fi tweak. -
Possible Fraudulent MOT and dishonest dealer 8 Mar 2023 (Forum)
I insisted that the car was fine and I even drove it to their dealership twice in the previous week, covering a distance of almost 200 miles, without any issues. They tried to guilt me into taking my old car back and even said that both cars have issues so we want to undo the deal, to which I declined as I wanted a bigger car and wasn't sure what did they do to my car. -

Citroen C4 Picasso 2l Blue HDi manual diesel 2015 - "Engine fault, arrange repair" warning light 4 Feb 2023 (Forum)
After about 10 minutes the problem disapears and does not reappear while the engine is warm infact even if the outside temperature remains low even if restarting the vehicle after a few hours the fault does not reappear, only when it is left to fully cool down say overnight. I have had the car from new, it has covered 63k easy miles, is fully dealer serviced. The driving in mainly in 70 or 100 mile runs mainly dual carriageway or motorway with no stop start journeys, and averages 54 to 58 mpg. -

My new way to save some diesel 28 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It will take me a a few minutes longer to get to and from work, but why should this bother me. This could be a seasonal thing, so if its wet, cold or dark I shall resort to the car. Also on Thursday's I will still use my car as I have to collect my daughter from her dance class. The distance to and from work is about four and a half miles on relatively level ground, half on a quiet country lane, the balance on a main road. -
K-Series Engine Cooked - Advice 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I am working on a Rover 25 K-Series engine, when the car was brought into the garage it was pressurising from the oil filler cap (or rocker cover). A compression test was carried out on the engine just to see what figures we were getting NO 1 cylinder:40psi, No2:55, No3: 35, No4:120 - Something was evidently very wrong with the engine. -
help for a friend - no v5c or v5c/2 with new pre-reg car 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
since 23/4/13 date my friend has had to keep this, his first car, stored away in the garage and not been able to use it even once - ofcourse his insurance cover, which was started on 23/4/13 with the expectation that he'd at least hold the new owner supplement slip when he go tthe car, is on the basis that the car is registered in the main driver's name (him). he called the dvla on 29/4/13 to see if at least his name is attached to the car's registration plate on their database but still it is not (though ofcourse they didnt specify who was due to personal data protections). -

mondeo 2003 tdci 116 hp - mondeo diesel issue log 20 Dec 2011 (Forum)
reason the seals are weak symptom :pedal will descend overnite => replace - loss of coolant reason the stupid design of the engine cover front edge will rub on the overflow pipe and will cut it causing sudden coolant loss = replace overflow pipe and cut off the corner of the cover - irregular idle and loss of power the air mass sensor will get dirty and give a poor reading => clean with brake cleaner - the engine will smoke ( black not white )and idle poorly. loss of power => the bypass recyling port on the egr valve has gone oval and is letting recirc gasses through all the time => replace or clean out with brake cleaner and a wire brush - diesel fuel on the top of the engine ( may also have a flashing glow plug light ) reason possible rubber pipe crack, or in my case wear in the seat of the hp injector lines where they mate to the injector body, you can see the tracking in the line base : amazing !!! -
Seat Ibiza FR 1.0 (115) TSI - 3 Years and 46000 miles On 4 Nov 2023 (Forum)
I wish they’d put a single bulb in the front and another in the back. The car only has one poor reversing light, which isn’t much good for seeing with when reversing in the dark. When the car had its MOT, I had a 22 plate TSI Ibiza FR Sport as a courtesy car. Interestingly it had reverted to (strange looking) rear brake drums rather than discs.
