  • What is your view on overtaking on the left? 13 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Lots of nonsense gets taken about this on Reddit and other driving forums. The highway code is pretty clear but people don't get it. I was hoping to get the views of posters here. Do you think it's fine as long as you don't change lanes? Fine as long as you're maintaining speed and passing a MLH?
  • Octavia vRS - Octavia vRS questions 20 Oct 2022 (Forum)
I'm looking for a fun to drive family car with room for a rear facing child seat and boot space. I've found some Octavia vRS in my price range that are 15/16 plates with around 50k miles on. Would this car fit the bill and are they expensive to run/repair/maintain?
  • Speed limit signs painted out! 24 May 2022 (Forum)
Driving into Southampton from the M3 the dual carriageway into Southampton had all the speed signs whitened out! Is this a prank or have the powers that be done it? We had different views on the limit...30..there are lamp posts.... used to be 40....nah nah.. it was 50....Some were doing 30 and another must have been doing 70.
  • Range Rover Evoque 2014 - Projector Beam Headlight - Deflectors Yes or No 7 Aug 2021 (Forum)
Hi, I have read somewhere that you do not need to fit beam deflectors to projector headlights (when driving abroad)? I understand the need for deflectors as I have driven in the EU for years, but never used projectors before. Thanks,   Frank
  • How to use a steering wheel 6 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Staring out of my window on lockdown at the passing traffic, and watching people drive cars on TV, I estimate 80% of folk hold the steering wheel with one hand placed on the very top of the rim. Why?? I've tried it briefly and it's very awkward and uncomfortable - surely another indication the 21st century is doing to the dogs?
  • Listen to my Peugeot 308 Clutch noise ! 10 Mar 2020 (Forum)
The clutch is making this noise: https://youtu.be/jqwlIQPKS1w What do you think? I have to say the 308 is an underated car in my opinion, and I do love the way it drives, but this noise is a concern.
  • Suitable Family Car 16 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hi, After a recent addition to the family, I'm looking to buy something a little more family friendly than my ford fiesta zetec 06 plate. I drive 60 miles a day, so looking for something that doesn't eat fuel, and isn't as difficult to overtake. I've been looking at a Ford focus, and my budget is around £5000. Thanks

  • Try Your Brakes! Really? 8 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Is it really necessary to "try your brakes" after driving through a few inches of water?  Surely this dates back to the days of water pooling in drum brakes and isn't necessary with modern disc brakes otherwise you'd have to "try your brakes" after every rain shower?
  • Infotainment 18 Jan 2018 (Forum)
"STREAM, DOWNLOAD MUSIC AND SURF THE INTERNET FROM YOUR SUBARU  ...Your passengers can stream movies, play games and listen to music to their heart’s content, whilst you concentrate on the driving. ..." How can we ensure that the driver will not use the system to the detriment of his/her attention on the road ?
  • Lack of petrols out there 20 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Just changed job and now only doing 6000 miles a year commuting. Drive a 320d m sport on a 63 plate which I love but will not need a diesel with new job. Had a look at similar cars (need space) and there are just so few out there. Can't see this huge change to petrol cars only on the roads ever happening?

  • Mercedes - Why so many new Mercedes 16 Apr 2017 (Forum)
Just noticed the number of new registered 17 plate cars especially Mercedes. Are they doing amazing PCP or other deals as you see people who would normally be driving a run of the mill car now changing every three years for a prestige brand especially MB. Low interest rates or what?

  • Top 10: Worst Real MPG manufacturers of 2015 9 Sep 2016 (Forum)
If you conduct the test under laboratory conditions you will never obtain real driving results. Now that it appears that brexit will not help to stop the car manufacturers from providing false figures. The only answer is to wait and see what the real life figures are when the cars are subject of road tests.
