Has anybody else seen the new R/R on test drives down a27 between
chichester and arundel. Myself i think they look more like a tank, a landrover seems to have better lines on it, and also more attractive.
I think bmw are trying to put R/R down, so they can sell more 3,5,&7 series

Interesting reasoning...
They must make £50k, probably more like £150k, on every extra Roller they sell. The big cost is developing a car that will sell in such small numbers - fewer units to spread the development cost over, so more cost per car on development reducing the overall profits.
At that money, they aren't in competition with a 3 Series, or even a 7, from a product planning point of view. While I agree with you that it looks like a half-finished tank I do think it is a serious effort to sell it and make money from a very select band of customers.
