  • Skoda, BMW, Audi and Toyota - Car opinions 7 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Things that are important to me are safety and reliability.  Heated seats and windscreen and reversing cameras are nice to have and  preferably an automatic.  I'm not looking at a hybrid.  Budget of no more than £19,000.  Thank you.

  • 2012 Toyota Auris Hybrid - CarPlay unit no longer showing rear cam on screen? 11 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, i bought the above unit , 3 years ago, so its outside of warranty. It was working fine with Iphone, but recently , the stock rear reverse camera, isnt being displayed on screen in dash, just the generic centered lines are visible! Its a pioneer unit, DAB, bluetooth, NAV, etc, but the rear camera feed is no longer showing! Its a small car, granted, but it doesnt have rear parking sensors, so 'she' can sometimes struggle parking the thing!
  • Audi A4 - Car Claustophobia 12 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Maybe to comply with new safety regulations but how unpleasant to be a rear seat in passenger in modern  SUVs such as the Toyota CHR and Mazda CX3. Drivers now have to rely on rear view cameras and revering in the dark is a nightmare with the minimal reversing lights. Perhaps something you get used to but how pleasant it is to return to an older car with a high seating position and command post view out.
  • Detailed car choosing website? 18 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Does anyone know of a website where you can enter what features you would like on a car and it would list the makes and models with those features. I'm talking of things like power folding mirrors, heated seats, reversing camera, heated steering wheel etc. I know that sites like autotrader can give you options of engine size, fuel type and gearbox etc but I am trying to find somewhere that lists all of the features on a car including optional extras and then lists all of the makes and models that have those features?
  • car park incident 2 Jan 2006 (Forum)
At lunchtime, I was accused of reversing into a car in a shop car park. The accusation was made by an employee of the shop who was in the car park at the time, who said the car belonged to a customer who was not present. Though there was no sign of damage to either car, I gave the shop employee my details.
  • Hyundai Tucson 1.6 GDi Blue Drive SE Nav 5dr 2WD - Negotiating a discount on a used Hyundai Tucson 23 May 2018 (Forum)
I quite like the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 GDi Blue Drive SE Nav 5dr 2WD (petrol, manual), 2017 model. I've seen some advertised for approx £17,300 with 7,000-10,000 miles, reversing camera and heated front seats etc. Example in link below. I'm just wondering what price I should aim to strike a hard bargain on? And if it's worth asking for anything else to be thrown in as part of the deal?
  • Pushbike Incident 18 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Any idea where I stand ? Any comments appreciated. One thing I didn't mention to them is the car reversed, stopped and reversed again (he only told me about this after. Many thanks
  • A century of car evolution, and yet... 3 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Could this be why so many drivers neglect basic maintenance?  So many of the modern goodies like "auto hold"  "hill hold", reversing cameras and countless safety features are cracking good, but I despair at (most) car manufacturers' inability to get these little details right!
  • Mercedes CLS - Reversing car incident (illustration included) 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
This is extremely unjust. If I was to reverse out of that space again, I honestly wouldn't do anything different. Based on their logic and the potential for fault, no-one would ever reverse out of a car-parking space. I am aware that it is recommended that cars reverse into car parking spaces, but that's simply not practical at a busy supermarket where everyone would be held up waiting for cars to reverse ahead of them.
  • Nissan Primera (P12 auto) - Worth considering? 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Seems that for the money, you can get one with lots of service history-I believe it's pretty crucial for the longevity of the timing chain to have had regular oil changes?  We both like the interior design, and the reverse camera and optional sat nav are attractive options, which don't seem to be present on similar family cars of similar ages.  Could anyone give me their opinion on these cars? Are they worth considering?
  • Black tinted rear window driving at night 15 Mar 2024 (Forum)
This is useful, as I like to keep out of the way of faster cars when overtaking.  It is also annoying when reverse parking at night. As you cant see much. I do have parking sensors. The rear parking camera is useless at night as all I can see is grainy black and white video and low resolution. I know many cars have rear tinted windows... but this an annoying disadvantage.
  • Mitsubishi Lancer - Botched Repair on Brand New Car 15 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I bought a brand new Lancer last month and am pleased with it. It has a fancy reversing camera viewed via the sat nav screen on it, which failed after two weeks. The car went to the dealers for repair. They had a look and need a part that has to be ordered.   I collected the car ( in the dark) whilst the bit is sourced.
  • Can a CC PCN be enforced if sign wasn't crossed? 29 Dec 2022 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently got a PCN for "entering" to the London Congestion Charge zone, whereas I stopped before the line of the sign and reversed out (I was in the street only 1-2m). It's even visible on the PCN photos (that I reversed out). See photo, the line of the sign is 2-3m more in, that just caught that I was about to turn in: https://us-noi.v-cdn.net/6031891/uploads/editor/03/turzsxdhu98c.jpg They already rejected my representation with some BS that they don't actually need to make sure I cross the line of the sign, they can put the cameras wherever they want to take the best pictures, and charge as many people as they can, starting at £80 each.
  • Honda CR-V III - Parking sensors 20 Aug 2018 (Forum)
After three 100% problem-free years, the rear parking sensors have now started playing up. The buzzer now stays on for no reason when reversing. I've checked the sensors for mud etc. , but all seems OK. The centre alarm is the only one to show on the screen. I know I can turn the whole thing off, especially with the rearview camera to help, but I like things to work on the car, however non-vital they may be.
  • Motor cycle police return to Essex! 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
It has been announced today that Essex Police are to reintroduce a motor cycle section, a reversal of the decision five years ago to scrap them, a decision which it was predicted would see an increase in motor cycle deaths in the County. Strangely enough today's decicion uses the high death toll amongst motor cyclists on the county's roads as a reason for their reintroduction.
  • Renault Clio - Car damaged in Lidl 26 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Long story short. My wife had just reversed out of a parking space in lidl and had lined up to drive out of the car park, While stationary a car reversed out from the opposite side and hit my wife's car in the rear door causing damage to the rear passenger door.
  • Renault Clio - Bus lane incident 7 May 2017 (Forum)
By the point that i had entered the one way bus taxi only route, it was to late to do anything about it, if i reversed, i would be reversing back out of a one way street onto other traffic, so i decided to carry on driving on the bus taxi lane. I can't denine that i entered the bus lane, this was due to not knowing where i was and poor visability, so my issue is this, i had just signed for the car 10 minutes earlier and taxed the car at the dealership,  will the fine come to me or the dealership?
  • Hyundai i30 - Hire car 20 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I think it is the thrummy note which makes it sound a bit frail ( I am sure it isn't actually) in comparison to a 4-cylinder. It is probably the base model so only has 4 e-windows, a reverse camera and little other frippery. This is good. The handbrake is manual (good) but the centre armrest/cubby box obstructs it. Handling is fine and the ride actually very compliant (no low profiles).
