  It claimed the technology evident in the vehicle is not available from any other carmaker in the same combination.   Police 'will make life difficult for uninsured drivers' 12 Dec 2008 (News)
  Two drivers in the Bracknell area had their vehicles seized by Thames Valley police last week because they did not have car insurance , it has been reported. According to the force, the motorists were stopped as part of an automatic plate recognition initiative. The drivers were given £200 on-the-spot fines and also received six penalty points on their licences. In addition, the motorists face having their cars crushed if they do not pay to have them released from the compound where they are currently being held.

  People who drive without car insurance are more likely than ever before to be stopped by the police, it has been claimed. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) stated automatic number plate recognition technology, along with a database containing details of everyone with cover, was helping the authorities catch more rogue road users. It added this was putting other people off getting behind the wheel without motor insurance.

  Next year's initiative will see volunteers have their vehicles fitted with satellite-tracking devices which collect road charges automatically. ETA explained the amount drivers would pay - if the scheme were to be introduced - would be based on levels of congestion. Andrew Davis from the organisation said the idea was unpopular because the government had not explained it clearly.

  It shares the rear drive layout and Mustang engine of the MG ZT 260, and instead of a hefty 5-speed manual comes with what MG Rover describes as “a smooth automatic transmission”. They don’t say how many speeds the box has, but do say the car will do 0-60 in under 7 seconds and go on to 150mph. If you’re after trad Brit luxury with softer suspension and an easier drive than the MG ZT260 it could be for you.

The 2.4 four-speed automatic does the sixty dash in 10.2 seconds, reaches 124mph, sips petrol at the rate of 29.2mpg on the combined cycle and emits 233g/km CO2. The alternative engine is a 3.0 litre V6 which pumps out 184bhp at 5,300rpm and 201 lb ft (273Nm) torque at 4,300rmp.
