Raising driving age to 18? 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)
While they are about it surely it would be sensible to raise the age limit for driving a car to 18. It could be argued that this will also save lives as young drivers are more likely to have an accident. Being able to drive is like a badge of honour and would compliment being able to buy alcohol, cigarettes and vote, making coming of age a real change. -
Scooter Deathwish 17 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Having said this morning that I was oblivious to the usual stupidities of drivers not being in control I witnessed this afternoon four young scooter riders - three learners and a fully qualified ( or not showing L plate) riding two abreast at 30 mph paying no attention to the road but laughng and joking with each other. -
Eyesight Dilemma 28 Jun 2004 (Forum)
One can only question how many other motorists are driving around with similarly impaired vision and why compulsory eye inspections are not introduced for older drivers. I feel so concerned that I ought to report this person before a young child is possibly killed, but am reluctant to shop anybody for fear of reprisals. -
thought I'd seen it all! 11 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Despite hearing about such things quite a bit this morning was the first time I've seen a female driver putting on make-up whilst driving. Where did this happen? On the main road passing our local infant/junior school? Yep, a mum was driving along with two hands on her make-up, eyes in the mirror concentrating on her blusher and, to make matters even worse, her young daughter rattling around unrestrained in the back no doubt admiring her mum's dexterity! -

Minor prang - insurance procedure please 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My advice to her was to then: (1) Write to the other driver (recorded delivery), politely blame him for the accident, tell him she wasn't yet making an insurance claim but reserving her position. She would then say she is getting an estimate or two and forwarding them to this other driver in due course and expecting his / his insurer's payment (2) Get the tracking / suspension checked to ensure that it's not damaged as this could cost a lot of money to fix and might then lead her to making a claim (fully comp insurance). -
N/A - Hit and Run 14 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I have phone numbers for these people, and the video even captures them stopping to see if I'm okay. minutes after the collision I was straight on the phone to the police and following that I reported the event to my insurance. I did not claim for the damage, I instead chose to get it fixed myself as I am a young driver and my insurance is already expensive as it is. Getting to the point, I was originally wanting the police to at least speak to the driver (for details) but I fully understand its 'more of an insurance matter' as I was told by an officer. -
Hit a wing mirror 2 May 2013 (Forum)
I am just worried she might have noted my number plate down and made a claim for something. I am a new young driver so I don't want to go through insurance as it's expensive as it is and if there is any damage it would be light so I would be able to pay for it. Whats the liklihood she will made a claim? At the time of the incident she wasn't p'eed off at all and seemed really nice about it. -
My turn for an accident. 17 Mar 2010 (Forum)
At least he was insured - young lad paying over £2k a year for his 10 year old Polo! I'll see how good LV really are now. -
Courtesy or nuisance 4 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I gave a driver (gender unseen) a nervous breakdown on Friday last. As I approached a three junction traffic roundabout I saw a very hesitant young learner trapped there. The traffic was building up behind him quite badly. -
What is it with motorcyclists? 23 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Am I the only driver who considers most motorcyclists bad mannered and bad drivers? I live in Bournemouth and there seems to be an increasing number of motorcyclists who:- - While overtaking a slow moving queue of traffic, will push into the queue willy nilly despite no space available. -

Dealing with the aftermath of a slight prang. 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Looked round and an ancient Corsa is buried in the back of a not quite so ancient Punto. Both car drivers had been leaving the doctors. Wait at my car to see the aftermath - I hadn't actually seen the accident, but hung around anyway. Young guy steps out of Corsa, elderly female steps out of Punto. -
Traffic cops related question 11 Nov 2006 (Forum)
After watching traffic cops the other night where the young girl was killed got me thinking about if there was anything she could have done to improve her situation. At the end of the day regardless of who was at fault and why, the young girl still lost her life. -
Honda Jazz - Insurance claim - is this really our fault? 28 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The road at this point is bendy, and is a 40mph zone despite being in the countryside. There is a bend to the left of the junction, which gives drivers on the A-road initial visibility of the junction between 300 and 400 feet away (depending on vegetation growth), and similarly gave my wife a view of at least 300 feet of the road. She checked the road was clear in both directions, and pulled out, only to be hit from the rear by a young driver travelling left-to-right on the A-road. -
Tire maintenance 19 May 2021 (Forum)
Hi guys, I am a new car owner, and relatively young driver. I have some (admittedly basic) car maintenance questions 1) I've noticed in some cases when my hand is not on the steering wheel (at low speed and empty roads), it would turn on its own a small amount. -
Any - Snow time 21 Jan 2013 (Forum)
This morning I helped push one car driven by a young woman (I think) over the brow. It never ceases to surprise me that people don't bother to clear the snow from their car windows before setting out. Don't they want to see sideways ?
