Stupid Service Manager cocks it up 17 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Failing that, has anybody got an A4 that I could have a pic of the belt, from the top? The belt is the correct one (Genuine Audi) and I'm sure I refitted it correctly. The car is a 1997 A4 TDi (1.9) with a/c I'm loathed to go to a dealer and ask, too shy & feel stupid... MG-Rover Questions? Click on http://www.mg-rover.org -
Any - Another "What to buy" thread! 16 Sep 2025 (Forum)
Daughter has recently moved house to Falkirk/Stirling area and decided that they now need a second car. Current vehicle is a diesel 2014 Audi Q3 and will be used for his daily commute and longer trips, so she is looking for a run around for local use. Must be big enough to fit two child car seats and buggy in the boot. Budget of £7.5k but could be stretched a bit, has driveway so could consider electric / PHEV. -
AWD/4WD/camper/economical/auto for 3k max? 21 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I would also go LPG but this may make camping in the back problematic due to the LPG tank. I have been looking at - Audi all roads but the MPG is not great - Nissan x trails - Nissan Qashqais - but the space in the back is poor. -
PCP vs Lease 27 Feb 2020 (Forum)
The initial rental for a lease would be around £3500 followed by payments of around 400/month for 4 years. A PCP is slightly less but the initial payment would be higher given the car I am after (Audi Q5). Any advice folks? -
1990 VW Scirocco GTII - Clutch cable breaking 4 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I suspect the garage failed to fit the cable correctly. I have now made an appointment for a VW/AUDI specialist garage to appraise me of the fault. What is the possible fault and what is the specialist likely to recommend. -
VAG 2.0 TDI (143) - potential problems 28 Apr 2013 (Forum)
The only Issue I can find thus far is the injector issue (but only on the 170 variety) Considering either a Seat Exeo or a Mitsubishi Lancer as they both use the engine; but alot cheaper than VW and Audi -
How Reliable Is Your Car? 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
What is surprising is that Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot, not firms renowned for reliability all ranked above BMW, VW, Volvo and Audi with Mercedes Benz languishing in 27th place. Thoughts? -
Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI ES - Daytime Running Lights 23 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I would like to mount Daytime Running Lights onto my civic reason for this i do alot of motorway driving at work (in a company vehicle) and cars fitted with DRL's i see mainly Audi's and Mercede's they stand out not in a chavy way you know they are there if that makes sense which on a motorway is all good in my book. Anyway does anyone know of anyone or links to photo's of DRL treated civic's or could anyone assist me in idea's of where to mount them on the front of a civic. -
Why no AWD saloon models from BMW and M-B? 1 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Is it that the cars would be too expensive for the market, LHD/RHD integration problems or not wanting to cannibalise sales of X3,X5 and ML? Perhaps it's all of those and factors and more, anyone have a more definite idea? Audi sell plenty of quattro's with a decent markup on the 2wd equivalent., I'm surprised that the other players haven't gone for a piece of that market. -

Ferrari driver pulled over for driving too slowly 17 May 2009 (Forum)
Mr Evans was doing a leisurely 25mph near the Pelican pub in Ogmore-by-Sea ? a 40mph zone ? when he saw the unmarked Audi saloon behind him with flashing blue lights. -
A6 Avant vs Freelander 12 Nov 2007 (Forum)
My self-imposed brief is a) CO2 < 225, ie not in top VED band, b) automatic, c) 4-wheel drive, d) must be good ON-road, OFF-road irrelevant, e)medium/large estate, f) image totally irrelevant. So far I've got Audi A6 Avant SE 2.7TDi Quattro Tiptronic and Land-Rover Freelander 2.2Td4 SE Auto on the shortlist. I'd appreciate constructive comments, even if they're negative about the cars. Any suggestions for additions to the shortlist would also be appreciated provided they meet a) to e) absolutely. -
Copper Core or Resistive HT Leads ? 12 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hello All, Just got a quote from Audi and I was shocked to say the least (not really !! ) at the price for a set of ignition leads for my car, £25.40 + vat per lead x6 (A4 2.4 V6). I've had a good google and I can get a set of resistive leads for £40 delivered or a set of copper core leads for £76 delivered (still dear ! -
Last Car 8 Feb 2007 (Forum)
He was wondering if he would be better off buying say a 1 year old average car (Ford, Vauxhall etc) and keeping it 5 years then repeating the exercise again or buying a "quality" car (BMW,Audi etc) and keeping it the full 10 years. -
Any thoughts on oil analysis? 25 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Having followed the oil change / VAG long life service threads here for a while now I have to say I'm torn between sticking to the long life regime on my Audi Tdi which is saying that the first service will be due at 19,000 and getting intermediate oil changes at a cost of £100 ish (it needs 8+ litres). I was wondering if anyone had any experience of getting their oil analysed to check how it was wearing. -
Chips With Everything 30 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I then read HJ's note that Superchips transform this engine by smoothing out the spike. In which case, here comes the obvious question......(again?)........ Why don't Skoda/VW/Audi/Seat do it already? Why do I need to spend £550 and jump through insurance company hoops when the manufacturer can surely get it right at outset? Woody -
Octavia 1.9 TD with DSG 23 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I test drove a new Octavia today and thought it was brilliant with the build quality and refinement of an Audi, supple ride and great handling. The 1.6FSI engine was weak and I definitely favour diesel. I also want auto. The 2.0 TDI gets too pricey, so the obvious choice is a 1.9 TDi (105) with a DSG. Unfortunately, on doing a forum search, HJ asserts more than once that the 1.9 with DSG is a poor match. -
Mondeo estate to A6 Avant quattro 22 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I have been thinking about changing my Y reg Mondeo 2.0 Petrol Zetec Estate with 127k miles on for a 2000X A6 Avant 1.8T Quattro. The Audi is up for sale at £7500 and looks in good condition, not sure what the mileage is on it at the moment. I think mine is worth closer to £2000, plus it's aircon has been dead a while and has three parking dents and the paintwork at the front is fairly well chipped, and the steering pump makes a massive mooing sound when the engine is turned off... -
VAG 1.4 TDI 4 May 2005 (Forum)
Particularly with a Skoda Fabia wrapped around it. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these engines?. I think the Audi A2 also has it fitted. Besides the obvious power/torque differences, how does it compare to the 1.9 TDI?. I read that its a 3 cylinder, does that increase noise or vibration compared to the 4-cyl?. -
Servicing Costs. 7 Sep 2004 (Forum)
During a nose througth Whatcar, I had a look at the estimated servicing costs. Over three years the Audi is likely to cost £750. The Seat is estimated at a staggering £1130. Nearly £400 a year to service a diesel Seat? How correct is this figure and why is it so high.
