I have been thinking about changing my Y reg Mondeo 2.0 Petrol Zetec Estate with 127k miles on for a 2000X A6 Avant 1.8T Quattro.
The Audi is up for sale at £7500 and looks in good condition, not sure what the mileage is on it at the moment.
I think mine is worth closer to £2000, plus it's aircon has been dead a while and has three parking dents and the paintwork at the front is fairly well chipped, and the steering pump makes a massive mooing sound when the engine is turned off...
Opinions on what I should do would be welcome!

Hard to make specific comments about individual cars of course but a switch to a "prestige" brand does often mean increased parts and sericing bills.
That's a fairly big car for a modest engine and I'd want to know what it's been used for. I've been using an A4 1.8t recently and found it very coarse at high speed which surprised me for a car designed with the rep in mind.

Audi seems expensive to me and the 1.8T doesn't suit the car, although it can be chipped to big power if that's your thing. If you want an A6 get a TDI, 1.9 and 2.5 are both good, 1.9 amazing economy for the size of the car.

You should be looking at a 51/02 plate for that money ,diesels a lot more.

A 02 plate petrol would be ideal. From what I can gather the 1.8 is preferable to the 2.0 petrol and the insurance is only £60/year more for me. Probem is that there is little choice of Audi estates in that price range. What kind of price do you think I should be aiming at on this Audi?
Curiously enough, where I live in Northumberland there is a limited selection of Mondeo estates at this price level too. It must be a sellers market up here!
Thanks for all the replies.
