  27% of people surveyed for the BCA said they would be looking for a more fuel efficient car when they next came to buy, and 17% want a car in a lower tax band. A quarter of drivers said they will have to change the amount they drive if the cost of fuel rises to £1.40 a litre, and a further 10% said they would change their habits of fuel rose to £1.50. Unsurprisingly, 38% of respondents said they would lower fuel duty if they were in charge of the country’s motoring and transport strategy.

  The SEAT Younger Driver programme, which provides driving lessons to 11-17-year-olds, celebrated its 25,000 th lesson this week. The programme was launched two years ago and allows eager teens to get behind the wheel before they hold even a provisional licence.

Hyundai revealed it expects people who are taught to drive in the auto to fall in love with it.

  Britons looking at buying a car will soon be able to drive away in a new Volvo for just £210 per month as a result of the new scrappage scheme. Volvo has announced that consumers could soon be motoring around in its new C30 DRIVe S with Start/Stop technology by using the initiative's credit as a deposit on the offering.

  Ford has finally announced a launch date for its new front-drive Focus RS. Power will be 215PS at 5,500rpm with 310Nm torque at 3,500rpm from a turbocharged 2.0 litre Zetec E based engine. This will be tamed by a Quaife torque biasing differential to give 0-60 in 6.4 seconds, 0-100 in 15.5 seconda and a top speed of 144mph.
