And, through his long and often dangerous hours of test driving, significantly contribute to the Le Mans wins for Jaguar in the 1950s with the C- and D-Types. • ‘FoMoCo Blue Demo’ Cobra to star at Race Retro 2 Dec 2019 (News)
Intended as a demonstrator, potential customers would be treated to some very exciting test drives courtesy of Peter Brock, designer of the Daytona Cobra and split-screen Chevrolet Corvette. Having spent around ten years in America, the car came to the UK where it has remained ever since.  It is currently owned by Kevin ‘KeKi’ Kivlochan’s and has been hugely successful in the 2019 HSCC Historic Road Sports Championship. Its current owner began racing in 1992 with a 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang and has since owned and campaigned a number of well-known Cobras, including COB 6008 driven by Jack Sears.

  • Hidden Heroes: Ford Mondeo ST24 1 Feb 2019 (News)
It’s certainly a lot more subtle, the seats are nicer and it’s slightly softer, smoother and more comfortable to drive, while the performance is still more than adequate. As a means of making rapid progress, it’s rewarding without compromise. A great grand tourer.  Yet its relative anonymity makes it a rare beast today.
  • 'Timewarp' Peugeot 309 GTI to go under the hammer 19 Jan 2019 (News)
It’s a real eye-catcher, in Bahama Gold and definitely more early Land Rover than modern Range Rover to drive! This charismatic and practical car to own and use has a guide price of £9000-£11,000. For those looking for something to get their teeth into for the spring, there’s the 1974 VW Karmann Ghia convertible restoration project.
  • One to watch: Porsche 928 21 Nov 2018 (News)
Ideally it will have no more than 80k miles, a reassuring service history and the 5-speed manual gearbox (so much rarer than the auto and much more sporting to drive). You will struggle to find one but if you do, expect to pay around £12k - £15k. My hunch is that they will be worth double this amount within a year. Do not get distracted by high mileage cars with patchy history – these can still be picked up from around £4k but they are never going to be of interest to the serious collector.
  • Honda's new Mean Mower can hit 150mph 4 Jul 2018 (News)

Gears can be changed through carbon paddles on the steering wheel - although Honda says it can hit 90mph in first gear alone. Underneath, it looks neither like a motorbike or a standard Honda mower.

  • Mini with celebrity past heads to auction 13 Jul 2017 (News)
Damian Jones, head of sales at H&H Classics, says, ‘This Mini is a wonderful example of a car that became a British automotive style icon; an exhilarating drive and with links to celebrity London in the 1970s. These coachbuilt Mini’s were the preferred transport of many celebrities, both Peter Sellers and John Lennon had one as did so many others.’ The Mini was also previously owned by the musician John Hammel (perhaps best known as Sir Paul McCartney’s guitar technician) and Denny Laine (formerly of The Moody Blues and then a member of Wings).

  • Motoring groups call for legislation on dashcam video sharing 2 Jun 2017 (News)

Social media sites have become flooded with dashcam videos, making them much more accessible to share. Viral videos of unsuspecting motorists are often spread all over social media platforms, with commentors making snap judgements about who's in the right or wrong, and details like licence plates and driver's faces are often not hidden.

  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 21 Nov 2016 (News)
With a new 12-month MoT, the only thing that might detract from the car’s appeal is its automatic gearbox. Its pseudo-sportiness may not deliver the most engaging drive as a result, but having owned an auto 405 before, the author can confirm they’re actually really quite pleasant. At £895, this needs snapping up quickly. Read our Peugeot 405 review and buyer's guide How many Peugeot 405s survived?
  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 106 XS 31 Oct 2016 (News)
It’s a pseudo-sporty 106 XS – not a pocket rocket like the much lauded GTi – but a hugely entertaining car to drive nonetheless. The XS comes with a 1.4-litre carburettor version of the renowned XU engine, developing 73bhp. That’s not a huge amount, but given the 106’s wafer-thin metalwork, it’s plenty enough to give it a turn of pace that should put a smile on your face.
