  Between 8 – 14 June, this bespoke motor show promises to attract more than 350,000 visitors, making it an ideal venue for the UK debut of Jaguar's range-topping models. Jaguar will also display the recently launched XF Diesel S – What Diesel magazine's 'Best Executive Car' for 2009 - featuring a high performance, 3.0-litre diesel engine. This new car is 1.8 seconds quicker than the outgoing 2.7-litre it replaces while producing 10 percent less CO2 with an improved average fuel consumption of 42.0mpg – a 12 percent improvement.

  All four of the catalogued Bentleys changed hands, with the highest price going to the 1951/69 Bentley MkVI Turbocharged Special at £27,500. The 1937 4.25 Litre Saloon (£24,750), 1988 Mulsanne S (£15,675) and the dilapidated 1956 Bentley S1 Freestone & Webb Saloon (£10,780) were keenly contested, too. Another restoration project - bearing the highly appropriate registration number XKA1 - the 1956 Jaguar XK140 Roadster comfortably exceeded its high estimate to fetch £31,900.

  Which, of course, creates an opportunity for the rest of us. Star car of the day had to be this gorgeous, unmarked 27k mile 2002/52 Jaguar S-Type R with two-tone leather interior. However, it proved too good to miss. From a starting punt of £20,000 it quickly bid to its £23,750 reserve, the accelerated onwards and upwards to sell for £24,800, a few hundred over trade book for the age and mileage.

  Top bid took it to £2,900 provisional. It wasn’t all like that. The book was spot on for a 92,405 mile 99T S-Type Jag 3.0 litre V6 manual with no extras to speak of but in a fetching shade of light metallic blue. The estimate for 90,000 miles was £9,900. Top bid was £9,575. So reckon it probably came for £9,750.

An 86,000 mile 99T Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde automatic sold for £17,500; a 22,000 mile 99T E46 BMW 318iSE sold for the normal £13,100.

  Packing masses of space into its 4.4m overall length, Nissan’s light panel van boasts a volume of 4.2 cubic metres - a full 900 litres more than a Citroen Berlingo. Indeed, to match the NV200’s volume you’ll need to look at long-wheelbase versions of its rivals. Even here it excels, with 200 litres more than a Renault Kangoo long-wheelbase and matching that of a long-wheelbase Vauxhall Combo.     What it delivers in space it might lack a bit in style, but that is a compromise most buyers will be happy to make such is its usefulness.
