Sometimes with Ford new models are not an improvement

The Ghia version of this model was very pretty often found with the additional option of superb full leather upholstery. This was not available in the new shape 2002 model. With 50,000 miles of motoring in mine, there have been no problems.

If attracted to this Fiesta model, do look out for a Ghia and its sprightly 1.6 engine and five gears because it will represent great value for money.

Cars of this age seem very well protected against rust - better than in earlier decades. I have driven the later "squarer" 2002 Fiesta too and in many respects it seems more cheaply constructed than its well tried predecessor - even the steel with the newer car seemed thinner and more prone to denting but I must allow others better informed to comment on this.

This car has all the essentials - remote locking, CD player, fold down seats plus incredible Jaguar-style comfort and luxury for a small car.
