Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010)
Ghia 2.0 TDCi (DPF) 5dr
Reliable for ten years, not so much for the rest
170k miles 2005 21 year old Ford 2.0 TDCI Diesel C-MAX 4.4M long 9.6sec 0-60 134bhp 320NM 550L/1620L boot, with rear outer seats that slide backwards and inwards to create limousine sized space for the rear passengers. It drives better than most SUV and with the weight of safety and emissions improvements is unbeatable by 9/10 current SUV or people carriers. The mechanics have needed a fair bit of wear out maintenance, EGR, Suspension, High pressure fuel pump, battery. But original faultless engine, gearbox and clutch all work as well as they did when new. Bar an almost imperceptible whine at low speed from the gearbox. Drives like new 0 to 60 in 9.5 seconds. Focus like drive. Probably replacing with a 2019/2022 Toyota Corolla Touring Sport hybrid. Finally giving up with a suspected Variable Vane Sticking (VNT) as it goes into limp mode when warmed up over 2krpm. Garage took £120 to drive it round, find no fault codes and claim it was injectors. Useless thieves.
