Ideal company car to munch the miles.

Newly delivered A3 SE Technik, after 500 miles first impressions are good. The cabin is well made with pleanty of soft-touch plastics and there are no signs of rattles that plagued my 2013/13 A1, it feels a well screwed together machine. Outside the rising waistline of the bodywork means that the side windows feel small but from the inside has the effect of making you think that you are in a much bigger car. The new CRKB 1.6TDI engine is much improved on it's predecessor, it's quieter, gets to temperature in half the time and has a better power delivey than the old model and like for like fuel consumption to my old A1 is +5mpg better. I have opted for the optional automatic lights & wiper pack that also includes acoustic glass that is both thicker and a with a slightly heavier (greener) tint, it certainly makes in the inside quiet on all road surfaces.
The only negatives found so far are:
1. standard seats are too flat and don't have enough lower lumbar support, after 5 years of 'sports' seats I miss the added support.
2. my car has torsion beam rear suspension like on low-spec Golfs & Octavia's and not the multi-link expected, frustrating that this is not mentioned on Audi's configurator or in the brochure, I can only imagine this is part of the new 'Ultra' specification to reduce CO2 emissions.
3. the fuel tank is not 50 litres when the automated blowoff valve 'pops' at the pump, it's more like 45 litres, so either this car has a large reserve or there is an expansion tank that you can overfill into, presently @ 59 mpg my range on a 'full' tank is 525 miles.
I am sure the next two years will a relaxing drive.
