Audi A4 (2015 - 2025)
A4 TDI 40 Sline Manual
Fun and economical to drive however DFP filter issues
I really like the A4 TDI 40 for many reasons; it’s a great all-rounder in my opinion. However, as this is my first Audi, there are a few things I don’t like. I bought the car at 25k miles, and it is now on 75k. I have had next to nothing done on it other than consistent servicing.
The biggest issue with the car is that it provides no information for certain engine warning lights. The DPF on mine consistently triggers an amber engine light after driving efficiently for more than a few days, even when using premium diesel. I travel a 60-mile round trip every day, with the majority of the distance on motorways, so there should be no issues with the DPF.
The engine warning light indicates that the DPF is not running efficiently, but this can only be revealed with a diagnostic plug-in, as the car itself does not display any detailed fault information, not even a code.
This warning appeared just two weeks after having the DPF regenerated.
The only way I have been able to clear the fault is by changing gear only after 4,000 rpm, which significantly reduces fuel efficiency.
I play golf and cricket, and can fit both of the bags within the boot at the same time with some jiggery. which is great, however, the small boot opening doesn't make it the easiest.
Overall, I really like the car, but the lack of information on faults and engine lights is really annoying.
