Kia's EV4 confirmed with 391-mile range

The new Kia EV4, which is now on sale, offers a range of up to 391 miles on a single charge.
The new car, available in hatchback and Fastback saloon form, complements the growing electric SUV line-up that includes the Kia EV3.
With modern, ultra-aerodynamic styling, the new Kia EV4 has distinctive looks on its side – particularly the bold hatchback that will be built in Europe, at Kia's Slovakian plant.
The EV4 will be offered with 58.3kWh standard and 81.4kWh long-range batteries, with the firm promising a range of 391 miles in the longest-range version.
The new Kia EV4 will take on premium trend-setters such as the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2, while also offering competition to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 plus the, Volkswagen ID.3, the Renault Megane E-Tech and the Cupra Born.
2025 Kia EV4 prices and release date

Both the Kia EV4 hatchback and the EV4 Fastback are on sale now, with deliveries due in the Autumn.
The EV4 hatchback costs from £34,695 for the entry-level EV4 Air with the smaller 58.3kWh battery – if you want the larger 81.4kWh battery then it's an extra £3000, taking the price to £37,695.
Upgrade to the GT-Line trim and it costs from £39,395, while the top-spec GT-Line S model costs from £42,895.
The new Kia EV4 Fastback comes only with the larger battery and costs from £40,895 for the GT-Line model and £45,395 for the top-spec GT-Line S – around £1500 more than the equivalent EV4 hatchback model.
2025 Kia EV4 styling, interior and technology

The new Kia EV4 follows the firm’s acclaimed ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy already seen in the Kia EV3 and Kia EV9. Here, instead of being an upright SUV, the new Kia EV4 has a low nose and long-tail silhouette.
At the front, the new Kia EV4 has vertically-oriented headlights and Kia’s Star Map LED lighting. This gives the front end a clean appearance, with the wraparound bonnet’s curvaceous sides blending into a new interpretation of the Kia ‘Tiger Face’ look.

At the rear, the new Kia EV4 offers two distinct designs. The sleek saloon has a wind-cheating shape, while the distinctive, sporty new Kia EV4 hatch has a more squared-off look that is sure to be popular here in the UK. Its extra-large tailgate spoiler will also help its aerodynamic efficiency.
The new Kia EV4’s elongated proportions are rounded off by wraparound LED tail lights that reinforce its width. Overall, the new Kia EV4 saloon measures 4730mm long, while the new Kia EV4 hatch is 4430mm long.

Inside, the EV4 has a clean, high-tech cabin that aims to emphasise space and simplicity. A striking 30-inch widescreen spans the dashboard, combining a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control panel, and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The free-floating screen setup is complemented by an asymmetric steering wheel, which adding to the futuristic look.

Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 allows access via smartphone or Apple Watch, while the infotainment system supports streaming services such as YouTube, Disney+ and Netflix. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, along with an AI assistant powered by ChatGPT for natural language interaction.

Practical touches include two USB-C charging ports in the front and two in the rear. Boot space is generous, offering 435 litres in the hatchback and 490 litres in the Fastback. For extra versatility, the rear seats fold in a 60:40 split.
2025 Kia EV4 electric motors, performance and range

The new Kia EV4 is available with a choice of two batteries, either the 58.3kWh standard range or 81.4kWh long range.
The 58.3kWh standard range delivers up to 267 miles on a full charge. The 81.4kWh long range offers up to 391 miles in the saloon or up to 366 miles in the hatch.
Both new Kia EV4 batteries offer rapid charging functionality. They will go from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. More details of peak charging speeds will follow later.
The new Kia EV4 also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) tech. This means owners can power electronic devices from the new Kia EV4 and deliver power back to the energy grid when charging at home.

The new Kia EV4 is based on the firm’s E-GMP platform. At launch, it will have a 204PS front motor. In the standard range, this gives 0-62mph performance in 7.4 seconds. In the heavier long range, 0-62mph performance dips slightly, to 7.7 seconds.
The new Kia EV4 has the firm’s customisable i-Pedal 3.0. This gives an advanced form of energy regeneration, which is augmented by Smart Regenerative Braking. Both new Kia EV4 versions have a top speed capped to 105mph.
New Kia EV4 suspension comprises MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear. Kia’s also fitting first-in-class third-generation ‘SFD3’ frequency-responsive dampers, which it promises will improve ride comfort and reduce noise and vibration.

The new Kia EV4 GT-line is a trim level likely to be popular in the UK. This range-topping model has a more dynamic exterior look that includes triangular-motif 19-inch alloys, plus wing-shaped front and rear seats.
