SEAT unveils revised Ibiza Cupra

SEAT has revealed the revised version of the Ibiza Cupra. The Ibiza range was facelifted earlier this year and now it's the turn of the performance version to be updated. The new model will go on sale in January priced at £18,825 but it's available to order now.

As before it's powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine fitted with both a turbocharger and supercharger to produce 180PS and 250Nm. This gives the Cupra a 0-62mpg time of 6.9 seconds yet thanks to its small size the official fuel economy is 47.9mpg. It sticks with the seven-speed DSG gearbox - there's still no manual available sadly - although it does at least come with steering wheel paddle shifts.

The changes on the outside are most noticeable at the front with a wider grille, a redesigned lower grille and square rather than round front foglights. The headlights are more angular and include a neat strip of LED daytime running lights. Xenon headlights come as standard too.The Cupra also has 17-inch alloys, black mirror caps and a matte black diffuser at the back.

Inside there's a new steering wheel design along with sports seats available in an optional two-colour leather finish. The entertainment system is new too and available with SEAT's clever portable sat nav system. First seen on the Mii, this useful system slots onto the top of the dash and integrates with the car's system giving not only navigation but also Bluetooth, an SD card slot for music, music streaming and a trip computer. It can even work as a torch if you have to leave the car in a dark car park.

Standard equipment on the Ibiza Cupra includes climate control, rain-sensing wipers, Cupra front and rear bumpers, a trapezoidal central tailpipe and unique front sports seats.
