Infiniti reveals details of new EX30d diesel

Infiniti has confirmed details of what is likely to be one of its most popular models - the Infiniti EX30d. Up until now the Infiniti range has only been available with thirsty petrol engines, so the choice of a diesel will give it far more appeal.

Following on from the recently announced FX30d which hits showrooms in July 2010 - the EX30d is powered by the same 3.0 V6 engine with 235bhp and an impressive 550Nm of torque, helping it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, although it's the in-gear pulling power which is likely to impress more.

On sale form early July 2010, prices will start at £35,975 and the EX30d will also be the cleanest Infiniti model yet. However, with CO2 emissions of 224g/km it can hardly be labelled 'green'. Average fuel consumption of 33.2mpg is unikely to win many economy awards either but it's not far behind alternatives like the Audi Q5 with the 3.0 TDI engine.

Like all Infiniti models, the EX30d will come with a high-class cabin and generous standard equipment levels. The entry-level model has a seven-speed automatic gearbox, all-wheel drive, xenon cornering headlights, front and rear parking sensors, 18-inch alloy wheels, Scratch Shield self-healing paint, electrically adjustable front seats, electrically-folding rear seats, cruise control, a seven-speaker audio system with six-CD changer, aux-in and Bluetooth.

The EX30d GT adds leather upholstery, 10-way electrical driver's seat with memory, eight-way electrical front passenger seat, electrically adjustable steering column, heated front seats and a rear air conditioning vent.

The new top of the range Inifniti EX GT Premium, available in both EX30 diesel and EX37 petrol variants combines the features of the GT with advanced technology such as Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), to which is added an infotainment package.
