Geneva Motor Show 2012: Kia reveals more of the new Cee'd

Kia has revealed more details about the new Cee'd which will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The new hatchback, the sister car to the Hyundai i30, goes on sale in the UK in June 2012 and according to the Korean brand has been designed to combine the style of a sporty coupe with the space of a five-door hatch.

The new Cee'd is longer, wider and lower than the current model with the same wheelbase. At the front it has the Kia family 'tiger-nose' grille and wraparound headlights with LED daytime running lights. It's certainly a lot more memorable than the current Cee'd and looks a more premium car.

Inside there's a completely new interior with higher perceived quality, improved switches and touchscreen technology. The dashboard features a 'cockpit-like' design with an aircraft-theme.  The main control panel wraps around the steering wheel, placing all the main controls within easy reach of the driver. The main controls such as audio and air-conditioning have been groupes together to bring a more premium and 'big car' feel to the interior.

There are also new soft touch materials while instruments and switches are trimmed in very thin chrome. Even the door handles are made of high quality materials and the door opener itself has a one-piece, shell-like quality to give it a premium feel.

The new Cee'd will come with an entry-level 1.4-litre petrol engine along with 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesels. Prices haven't been announced yet but it's expected to start at around £14,000. You can expect it to be well equipped as standard and will come with Kia's seven-year 100,000 mile warranty.
