VIDEO: Volkswagen's fun new Tiguan

Published 21 July 2017

Volkswagen wants you to think that the Tiguan has the ability to make regular families burst into song during traffic jams. A bold claim. So we put it to the test.

We also did a review while we were at it. Hit play have a look, and while you're at it, we'd appreciate a like and a subscribe to the YouTube channel. Thanks.

Mark, will you ever keep the hands on the wheel the way it should?
Come on, even grandmothers don't hold the wheel from upper side

It's difficult enough remembering what to say, let alone doing so while also deviating from the classic 10 and 2 position.

Hey Mark, my favourite video to date... brilliant!!! Just one question though... I've been tempted by exactly the same model as yours but your boss is always warning against buying a VW with a DSG... how is it going?

Thank you very much, appreciate it. HJ's the man when it comes to reliability knowledge on these things - I can't really comment too much about it myself, although I did run an Ateca TDI 190 with a DSG for six months, with no issues. (I realise that doesn't say much about what will happen 3-4 years down the line, though.)

You've probably already read this, but it seems to be getting better...www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/68796/has-volksw...s-

What I do know is that it's a phenomenal gearbox (any potential issues aside). That 1.4 TSI 150 with the DSG is, in my opinion, the best mid-range engine-gearbox combination money can buy. Very refined, quick and efficient. I only had the Tiguan for a week, but it reminded me just how good that drivetrain is. Obviously there are loads of DSG-type gearboxes available now across all the manufacturers, but in my humble opinion the VWG one is stil the best.

Hope that helps. Good luck with the purchase. :-)

I have tried in vain to register my cars registration number with you, it says not recognised. Strange the DVLA know it !!
