'Nuts' Fooballers Cars League Table

Thu, 22 Jan 2009
Nuts magazine's fifth annual "Premiership Stars And Their Cars" study can exclusively reveal that today's frosty economic climate is even affecting the garages of some of the UK's wealthiest football players, who are tightening their purse strings when it comes to purchasing a vehicle - proving that the credit crunch is giving everyone a kick in the balls.

The report that examines the popularity of cars within the PremierLeague circle, shows that the Range Rover Sport, is the favoured car of choice for the nation's
football players, including England Captain John Terry, Chelsea's Joe Cole and Liverpool mid-fielder Steven Gerrard.

A mere snip at £56,000 the car is the third cheapest in the top ten, proving more popular than garage stable mates the Lambohorgini (9) which will cost its owner an eye watering £151,000 and the Mercedes SL 65 (8) which has the same hefty price tag.

The Bentley Continental (5), which will set its owner back a whopping £137,000 has dropped two places to number five whilst the cheaper Porsche Cayenne, that comes in at a credit crunch busting £76,760 climbed four places from 7th position to number three.

Pete Cashmore, Nuts, Editor-At-Large said; "It's heartening that, in these most troubled of times, even the most flash of footballing chaps is seeing his choice of wheels hit by the credit crunch. It seems that the days of cruising to training in a supercar are over, and that our Premier League lads are settling on the relatively sensible off-road vehicles as their ride of choice (note: Cristiano Ronaldo does not apply). Mind you, it would be nice if we could all be strapped for cash and still afford a Range Rover."
