Microbus to be Made

Fri, 14 Jun 2002
Dr Bernd Pischetrieder, Chairman of the VAG board, has announced that the retro-chic VW Microbus concept vehicle, seen at motor shows from Detroit to Barcelona last year, is definitely to be made.
It will be built at the VW Commercial Vehicle Factory at Hanover, 50kms West of Wolfsburg. Unlike the original Type 2 Microbus, and unlike the Bay Window bus still being built in Brazil, the new Microbus is transverse front-wheel drive and is a luxurious six seater rather than a rear engine, rear drive basic surfer's bus.
