Santa Fe Gets Diesel Option

From 16th July, hot on the heels of the Toyota RAV 4 diesel, Hyundai has announced that its popular Santa Fe Sports Utility Vehicle will also be available with a diesel engine.

This is a 1,991cc common rail motor developing 115bhp at 4,000rpm and 192 lb ft (260Nm) torque at 2,000rpm. Top speed is 103mph, 0 to 60 takes 14.9 seconds, combined economy is 37.2mpg and and CO2 emissions are 202 g/km.

Standard equipment includes ABS with EBD, engine immobiliser, seat belt pretensioners, air conditioning, four-wheel-drive with double differential, CD radio with RDS, electric windows and mirrors, alloy wheels and metallic paint.

Kerb weight is 1,718kg; gross vehicle weight: 2,380kg and maximum braked towing weight 2,000kg.

The on the road price is £16,999 including a three year warranty.

Hyundai will launch a second new diesel engine, this one 1.5 litres for its new Matrix mini-MPV towards the end of 2001.
