Three new Sports Saloons from MG

Fri, 02 Feb 2001
To put some glamour into its range of saloons MG Rover has launched a range of X10, X20 and X30 sports saloons based on its Rover 75, 45 and 25 models. The 75 based X10 will boast a 195bhp version of the 2.5 litre KV6, much firmer suspension, eighteen inch alloy wheels and huge 325mm front disc brakes. There will also be a cheaper 160bhp version with the same body mods and two V8 models developing 260bhp and 375bhp respectively. The 45 based X20 will have up to 177bhp from a 2.5litre KV6, seventeen inch alloys and uprated suspension and brakes. Lower powered X20s will include 1.6 and 1.8 litre K series and a 2.0 litre turbo diesel. The X20 will be the basis for the MG entry in this years TOCA Tour race series, but obviously not the diesel. The smaller X30 will be based on the 25 (illustrated) with VVC engines of up to 160bhp, seventeen inch wheels and a host of other modifications to what has always been a good car to drive. Lesser X30s will have 1.4 and 1.8 litre K series engines or 2.0 litre turbo diesels and be priced from around £10,000. The latest version of the MGF also gets the 160bhp 1.8VVC.
