Classics Under the Hammer at BCA Blackbushe

This unique right-hand-drive 1931 model Packard 833 limousine, originally exported to South Africa, sold at BCAs Classic & Historic Auction today for £14,100 (£15,260, including buyers premium and VAT). Its companion car, a similar-looking 1929 Buick Six Series 121 Sedan, bid to £8,000 provisionally. Other American cars which sold were a 1944 Jeep which made a high £3,800 (£4,113 inclusive) because its running gear was in excellent condition, and a smart 1955 Ford Thunderbird in black with period accessory chrome wire wheels which made £13,100 (£14,177 inc.). A 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner bid to a provisional £11,200 and a 1966 Fairlane 500 Convertible to £5,400, also provisional. Bargains of the day included a genuine 60,000 mile 1973 MG Midget Mk III 1,275cc, which sold for £1,050 (£1,212 inc.); a 1978 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider which sold for £1,400 (£1,633 inc.); a genuine 15,444 mile 1979 VW Beetle 1303LS Convertible, which sold for £7,100 (£7,684 inc.); a 1968 Bentley T1 which sold for £4,100 (£4,437 inc.); and a 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II which sold for £6,600 (£7,143 inc.). Other interesting cars which sold were a 1926 Armstrong Siddeley 4-14 two-seat tourer with dickey and golf bag door which made £7,700 (£8,333 inc.) and a genuine 27,000 mile 1935 Lanchester E18 2.5 litre saloon which sold for £9,100 (£9,848). A 1960 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite which had been the subject of a £12,000 restoration originally bid to £6,300 not sold against the owners reserve of £7,000, but then came back to be sold at £6,350 (£6,872) once the owner dropped his reserve to £6,000.
