Citroen Berlingo Peugeot Partner - Run on waste veg oil WVO? - mickje

Hi All,

Am thinking of getting a 2003 Berlingo 1.9D. Will it run on waste veg oil and what mods will it need to do so? I understand that the Bosch VE fuel pump is up to the job, but is it fitted to all 03/04 cars with the 1.9D engine?

Any advice greatly appreciated Cheers Mick

It's a tall order to ask a rotary injection pump to pump WVO in winter temperatures. WVO is much more viscous than diesel when cold. When the engine is warm, WVO should be ok.

The 'proper' approach is to use two tanks-one for diesel to start from cold. A more cost effective option is to use a 50-50 mix of WVO and diesel.

Petrol is a great solvent if you really want to try running high ratios of WVO in sub-zero temperatures...

Although most IDI pumps will run on WVO it does eventually cause seal failure.

A friend of mine had a pug 106 diesel a few years back and ran that on veg oil.

He had to get a in-line pre-heater(probrably of ebay) wich helped it start , And run it on a 75% mix.

have a look at the pump issue though, not sure wich one he had on it but after a while it did start to leak.!!

Hope this is some help to you..
