Vaxhall vectra 20T SRI Z 20NET engine - Sump pan changing - Victor meldrew

Hi All I am new to this site and i wonder if anyone can help me

I have cracked the sump of my sons car realy silly misstake i know

i do all the mecanical work for him, i need to change the aloy sump

i have had it welded but it has not worked, does anyone know if i can

change the sump in situ and if so what sort of a job is it and what it entails

If you can see all the bolts and there is nothing obstructing it you can drop it straight off but you can't slide it sideways it has to come off straight downwards.

MMMMMMMM i will have to have a good look so there is no chance of giving it a little wiggle there is a large pipe runs down one side i thing it is an air pipe i will see if i can remove it or move aside

External pipe work is not the problem, the oil pickup pipe goes to the lowest point of the sump, hence the previous post about dropping it straight down, you may have to lift the engine to gain sufficient clearance, and, make sure no dirt gets inside when doing the job.
