Astra 2000 1.4 petrol - Car wont bump start - Focus_Driver

My cousins Astra has a problem starting and it won't even bump start. It started fine this morning but a few hours later it would not start, so I dont know what could have happened in the space of a few hours. It was not driven by anyone else or lights/electrics left on etc.

I've had a quick search and it appears it could be something to do with the battery not being connected properly. I dont have any further details as she called me on the phone. Would using jump leads help in this situation - ie to find out if it is the battery terminals/connections?

It could be that the battery terminals are not making contact, in which case you will have no lights or they will go out when you try to start it. Take the terminals off and give them a good clean and the posts - it could be of course that the battery has failed.
