suzuki swift 1.5 auto - Problems with the auto gearbox of suzuki swift 1.5 - lady gooders

I have purchased this vehicle from new. It has always had an intermittent problem where it will not go into Drive and only go into 3rd gear. It has been taken back to Suzuki main dealer many times over the 3 years warranty and they have never found a problem with it. They have just replaced the auto transmission fluid.

Now it is out of warranty (by 6 weeks) and has completely stuck and will never go into Drive, 1st or 2nd gear. I therefore have had to drive it in 3rd for a week before a new part could be found.

I was without a vehicle for a whole week while a part (a lever for the gearbox) was in transit from Germany and only drove it 3 times before the same problem arose. Again it is now going back to the garage who have no idea what is wrong with it.

If anyone has any idea what could be wrong or has had a similar problem, please let me know.

which/where dealer?

I bought mine second hand (mine's a manual though) from a main dealer and have found their after-sales great. Maybe I've been lucky!

The problem arises due to the total lack of expertise in dismanting any discovering a fault its normally a fit a new one syndrome. The problem with autoboxes is that they are quite a specialised item and save expense your agent hhas been trying to solve this himself and not bringing in someone who knows about the problem now its gone udders up he will be panicking and clutching at straws the only solution is for someone with some knowledge of autoboxes to have a look and repair or replace as they think fit all this should be done at their expense and under the circumstances providing you with a service car.Having to drive an auto around in 3rd for a week could have done untold damage.
