Panda or Twingo - Cowimars

Fiat and renault are both doing their city cars for £5995 - Twing and Panda.

Which one is the best car ?

Have a look at the Reviews section of this site for HJ's impartial view. Ultimately you need to get a proper test drive of each of them (not just 10 minutes up the road) to decide which you prefer to drive.

Our neighbour has just bought a Twingo - within a second I knew we would never have one because it has LHD windscreen wipers. They never work on a RHD car as the downward sweep of the left hand wiper throws water all over the right hand side of the screen - i.e that bit you are trying to keep clear of water!

Make sure you can live with the left foot rest. It is too awkward for me - same with the Punto.

Panda or Twingo - retgwte

you can get a base panda for less than that, try fiatsupersaver or perrys

i would go for panda by a mile

depending when you want to buy they are just about to stop putting the 1.1 engine in the base model and the base model will get a 1.2 instead - so maybe worth waiting a month or two for that to happen if you can

Drive them both and see which one you prefer.

On the outside the Twingo looks a bit better, from the inside the Panda looks a bit better. I have a Panda 100HP, but I haven't actually driven a Twingo. I'm put off it because it is considerably wider and would be a very tight fit in my garage. There also weren't any local dealers with a Twingo GT, which made it harder to drive one.

If I was in your position I would definately drive one. Just because one person prefers one car it doesn't mean you will. We all have different preferences and needs. I think they are both reasonable cars.

Have you considered a Citroen C1? You can get them for a bit less.

Thanks all. I bought a Panda this afternoon. Liked both cars and was happy with how they both drove - both dealers offered almost exactly the same deal. The 5 doors of the Panda swayed it. Did consider a C1 but did'nt like the lack of boot- I need somewhere to put the golf clubs.

Yeah, the boot on the C1 is pretty rubbish. It sounds like you made the right decision though. The Panda is amazingly practical for its size, and the boot is wider than almost any other small car.

Work colleague bought a new Panda in January. He is very pleased with it.

buy yourself a locking fuel cap from fiat for about 17 quid
