Proper race - only because it rained.

I expect any race in the dry to be just like the first - a procession

I wonder if Damon is nodding sagely at Michael`s seemingly age related decline?

He was not far off the same age wasn`t he - while winning the title off a younger MS - then in his prime?

I also read somewhere that there might be a move to 1.5 turbocharged four cylinder engines next year.

Perhaps it would be more exciting if they found something really difficult and had no rules at all on capacity, supercharging and so on. how about `one cylinder` and you can do what you want with the rest of the car too.

The pace car would match the downward trend and be powered by the cement mixer engine next door - although it would have to be rev limited - for fear of excess power.

The question I can never find an answer to is - how much does success in F1 depend on the driver and how much on the car?

Any thoughts?

McLaren - F1 Thread - ijws15

I would guess 99% car and 1% driver.

A Lotus is not going to win a race this year no matter who you put in it.

A Red Bull has a chance of winning with any of the drivers in it.

Good question Avant.

Perhaps a one make series would sort the men from the boys with only tweaks to gearing and subtle aerodynamics allowed.

Didn't they start such a series in Saudi Arabia and have teams from countries rather than individuals working for private teams?

At lease it would provide some national pride

Can a moderator not merge this with the unused F1 and Motorsport thread?

www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=82731

Seems there is one. Or are we not having such threads now to keep discussion in one place. It did seem to work for things motorsport related.

If the mods disagree then you'll probably delete this reply to HJ.

This used to be a really popular thread. Has everybody with even a slight interest in F1 gone over to the 'Other Place'?
