to help best i can
every spluttery corsa ive had with this engine both 1.o litre and 1.2 has always been sorted with a nice new shiney 30 quid ebay maf (people tell me they are refurbished but heck what does it matter)
anyway when you code read these horrible cars it always throws up false codes and never a maf
ive learnt the hard way pulling the few hairs i have left and now on the whole clear the codes try the maf and go home for me tea
however if garage are saying they cant clear the codes then either their equipment is duff and i have to say i had to buy a pod just to do these cars as they are not eobd compliant or you may have a major problem
my monies on a duff code reader as even mine fails to talk to these wonderful vehicles sometimes
hope that helps

I had the same problem, lamdba sensor fault but given the MAF was so common I just bought a Bosch MAF and it made a massive massive difference to the way the car drives. The reason I asked if the airbox was original is some people drill them which then causes all sorts of ECU issues as if the MAF has gone.

Yep so many people have had problems running their Corsa. Often turns out they had drilled a load of holes in the air box to aid air flow, but on the 1.0 and 1.2 (12v and 16v) it causes ECU problems but on the 8vs it does apparently improve performance or at least make it sound louder.

how can more air cause problems?
its like saying my computer came with a 50 gb hard drive and i swapped it for a 1tb drive and now its got lost in the wilderness and wont find my pictures of mary
all the more air will do is upset the fuel to mixture ratio just like the idiots that put a resister where the iat should be
take with a pinch of salt when you next go to the dark side rattle ;-)

Well a lot of people swapped put their original boxes back on and they said it solved the problem. Its as if this ECU has zero tolerance to any mods. Next time you have a Corsa in take take the airbox cover off and see if it flags up a fault. It mainly seems to the 1.0 which suffers from this problem.
My dads car suffered from all sorts of ECU problems over revving like mad, stalling, ideling at 1500rpm etc. It was simply a split breather pipe which made the ECU go mental.

no thanks i solve problems i dont create them

>>how can more air cause problems?
I put an 'improved' induction system on an Austin Maxi. Yes I know now.
The ensuing 'icing up' of the carb put a severe damper on the potential amorous intentions of that evening. :>(
