07 1.8 TDCI Cambelt change - Snakey
I've just been told by my local Ford dealer that the cambelt change interval on my 2007 Focus 1.8TDCI is 125,000 miles or 10 years.

125,000 miles! Thats the biggest interval I've ever seen for a cambelt - is that right? Seems a massive mileage. I'm on 75,000 now so I expected around 80-100,000 miles.

Are Ford making cambelts so reliable they can last for this mileage now, or have they made a mistake?

Hi Snakey,

I have a 2005 2.0 TDCI Focus. The Ford dealer near where I live (and an Indy) have said that the timing belt change for a 1.6 and 2.0 TDCI is 125k or 10 years and that for the 1.8 TDCI it is 100k or 10 years. However I will probably have mine changed at 100k just to be on the safe side. With a timing belt it is better to be safe than sorry. If indeed it is 100k for the 1.8 TDCI and you are on 75k then you might want to do it anyway. If its 125k then you may want to leave it for a bit.

Thats the problem with these things, conflicting information! You were told 100,000 for the 1.8 and I was told 125,000 for my 1.8 (even gave them the reg. number)

Perhaps I'll stick to the 100,000 anyway. I'm sure Ford wouldn't pay up if it snapped at 101,000 even if the interval is 125,000!
