£25 at Kwik Fit just now. Seems a pretty good deal (note, "vacuum", regas/oil fill only).

I guess its a good way of getting people in through the door - the machine would otherwise be sitting unused until May.
Shame I'll never set foot in my local branch again:-(
There is a branch where I used to work which was excellent :-), but I'm not passing there anytime soon unfortunntely.

I had Kwik Fit regas the Scenic's air-con a couple of years ago. All I can say is it went in there with the air-con doing virtually nothing, came out with the air-con ice cold, and it stayed that way for the rest of our ownership of the car. And all for £40. I would use them again.
My understanding is that their machine is fairly idiot proof. They tell it what car it's connected to, press a button and it just does its stuff.

However, when you see what a professional does to your aircon, you wonder if £25 is a little too cheap. www.gocool.co.uk/4598.html

It was £45 not long ago at KF for a a de-gas, leak test and re-charge, does that mean it was a better service then? I'm quite happy with the £25 price.
Those mentioned only check it for £45, and if you want a de-gas, leak test and re-charge it'll be £130, thank you very much.

My GBP 45 "regas" job at KF a year ago was a waste of money as the aircon was soon back to square 1. I then paid about GBP 95 for a more comprehensive test + oil & regas this spring and the aircon is still very effective. I would not consider using KF again for aircon work because of this experience.

Interesting. I had 768g of R134a put in, + lubricant etc. Do you think that KF put in different R134a to other places? I wonder what was wrong with your system the first regas didn't fix, but the second did. Perhaps you haven't mentioned some components that needed replacing?

KFs machine will not refill the system if it detects a leak. Maybe a stone hit to the condenser causing a leak (very common problem) after KF job?

I had my aircon recharge done at the honda garage they matched the price of wat kwikfit were doing this was about june 2009.
Its worth doing a recharge every 2 years as the the aircon tend to be less effective as the gas slowly leaks, heard its hydrosomething something to do with water...
i would not use kwik fit at all for any work, as heard of bad reputation try a good indy

For £25, you can't go much wrong, but there is a difference between a refrigeration engineer and a KF worker who has been on a 1 day course on how to operate the 'Fully Automated Aircon Machine' run by it's manufacturer. I just go to a refrigerated vehicle place these days and they only charge £25 too, but nothing if it doesn't need doing and I like being able to hold things for them and help/watch.

I thought LKF had a money back guarantee if their work didn't improve your a/c? My 307 is over 5 years old and the unserviced a/c was blowing very cold air the day I passed it on. I would have had it serviced if it needed it but it was never mentioned in the annual service and I never thought there was anything wrong with it
