Sorry lads and lasses - our chair-warmers at work have decided to close down this particular avenue of pleasure...
To wit:
It has now been found that certain staff ... have repeatedly abused internet access privileges. A random check has revealed that a number of staff are spending a great deal of their working time (sometimes hours) visiting pornographic websites.
HJ - porn? Never ...
As a result, XXXXXX has announced that all staff who do not require internet access will have such access denied, and they are in the process of determining who may and may not have internet access. However, in the interim, we are not happy that innocent staff have to pay for the actions of others. Accordingly, those staff who are guilty of this misconduct have received a final warning.
Not me, phew ...
The response that "it was not me who visited that site; someone else was/must have been using my machine", will not hold since clear instructions on the necessary precautions to be followed and how to protect your privacy with password protection etc. were given at the above information sessions.
Therefore, herewith be advised that regular reports on e-mail and internet activity will be conducted. Failure to comply with the provisions of our e-Policy constitutes misconduct and will result in disciplinary action, which may include dismissal.
Big brother is indeed watching us ...
I may show my face occasionally - but given the above, it may be some time ...

So long I for one will miss your posts!
Best of luck!

I for one have enjoyed reading your inputs. Along with Growler and others you helped to give an interesting global aspect.
Best wishes and dare I say it --- you've bin blicked.

Ian,
That's a feeble excuse . . . no home connection?
We need you here.

You can't do this, man! Someone has to help me convince all these types in UK that they've never had it so good motoring-wise and it's hell for us pioneers out here in the boonies!
Your management is daft anyway, it ought to be easy enough to regulate internet usage to sensible levels. Had to do with my lot on night shifts when our planes were late.
Don't you have a computer at home? This simply will not DO!
This tag line I chose for myself is becoming horribly apt, it seems to fit more and more posts.
Change is inevitable. Progress is optional.

Ian,
I've been called out of retirement to say bye as you're leaving. If you do indeed have to go the forum is losing one of its long term "constants".
You'll be missed.
There must be a way round it!

Ian,
Sorry to hear of your company's policy. Hope it doesn't keep you away from the site for too long, you'd be very much missed around here.
Keep looking for a way around it! I was thinking of something like www.anonymizer.com but that would look altogether more suspicious!
Best Regards,
Lee.

Please try to ensure that you and your colleagues' productivity drops dramatically as a result!
Hope you're back soon...

Will miss your tales from the Country with which I am proud to share at least some of its genepool. (Maternal G-Grandfather who came over in 1914 and lost his return ticket while taking a sabbatical in Spain)

Ian, good luck, hope to see you back again soon.

Ian
Sorry to see you go - I'll miss the banter (and plagarism!)
You'll have to get a home computer!

Hope you find a way to visit soon.

Uh-oh. There's always a few that spoil it for the others.
Is there no way you can claim that internet acces is a business need? Fingers crossed!
I like reading your posts - especially the stories of the local goings on which are often worthy of Private Eye's 'Funny Old World' column.
