The new car I am about to purchase can only be insured if a tracker is fitted. Can anyone give any advice on the best unit to install around the £300 - £500 mark.
I remember reading an article in a car magazine a couple of years ago about the best one to buy but cant think what magazine.
If anyone has seen any recent reviews or can tell me the best one to buy it would be appreciated.

You may need to go back to the insurance co. to ask which systems they accept.

they have just advised it must be GPS based.

You could check to see whether thay will accept the SmartNav system with the tracking option from TrafficMaster......then you will get a very nice SatNav and tracking all in one, a bit more expensive, but very good setup.

I'd still check if they specify a make or even who can fit it - you're going to need proof it is fitted correctly.
Won't there be an annual charge too?

I think the charges are around £130 a year

To anyone seriously intent on stealing 'high-end' vehicles, defeating GPS-based trackers is trivial...
