What Engine in a C5? - Glaikit Wee Scunner {P}
Was unexpectedy given a new C5 diesel tourer as a loan car yesterday.
Label on top of engine said HDi 16. Is this a 1.6l? If so it went very well.

The car was pleasant to drive but the large fixed steering whel boss was a bit too much like this dashed keyboard...

I think that means a 16v HDI. Not sure if both the 1.6 and 2.0 have 16V heads?

I test drove a 1.6 hdi and it felt good in the C5. My main reason for going for the 2.0 hdi was the lack of a 6th gear.

In 5th at about 70 to 80mph it began to get quite noisy.

It felt like the turbo kicks in at lower revs in the 1.6 so it came accross more spritely about town.

The car I drove had a six speed gearbox- so that makes it a 2 litre? And an SX as it had wheels of steel.

First time I've driven a 6 speeder; was a step into the unknown just like when I drove an Austin Maxi (5 speed) for the first time. At least the gear whine in the Citroen was fairly subdued and not the main sound at certain speeds. ;>)
