BMW E60 - First MOT due.... - fatboab
My E60 will be three years old at the end of this month and will be due its first MOT.

I was wondering if I should get the MOT done by the BMW dealer so that if any work is required it hopefully will be covered by the 3 year warranty before it expires and they will do it or should I get the MOT done at my local garage?

Any experiences's?

Excellent idea to get it done in the 30 days before the warranty runs out. A cynic could say that a BMW dealer might not mention things to you which could result in a warranty claim. Obviously the MOT itself would be legal but they might not put in too many advisories. If work is done under the warranty it doesn't matter where/how the fault is discovered; if it is a valid claim BMW should fix it.

Since the MoT is an inspection, not a service, then have it done elsewhere, and then take any warranty-covered advisories to the dealer and ask for them to be dealt with.

Get them to look for non MoT issues - water pump weeping, minor oil seepage etc...........
