Just had the first service on our Mercedes B Class diesel auto at a cost of £260.
I was wondering how this cost compared to other makes.

It's not cheap, but it's not a lot dearer than makes like Honda and Mitsubishi.
My local MB dealer advertises A services (which this would be) on most models for £199. Another thing that seems common with MB but I'd never heard of before I got one, is to take your own oil. Costco sell 4L of Mobil1 and Mobil1 TD for £23.50. My dealer charges over £15 per litre.
Bear in mind that having the car serviced by an MB dealer does revalidate the Mobilo breakdown service for 2 years - there's some value in that.
