what's wrong with this.
Half a meter is a long way to be sticking out into the road.
Parking across a dropped kerb is rude and annoying to those who wish to use the dropped kerb (and cannot because someone is blocking it).

A car that far from the kerb is not parked its abandoned.

I wish they could penalise drivers who park on the pavement. Theyre a menace to pushchairers etc.

Arguably they could, since the wheels would inevitably be more than 19.7 inches from the kerb - unless, of course, they parked completely on the pavement keeping one set of wheels very close to the kerb.....

personally i'd be embarassed to be seen getting out of a car i had parked that far away from a kerb !!!

The point is, the robots who enforce these regulations will be let loose by the councils and cars that infringe the rules by an inch will be fined. Cars that block drives etc can perfectly well be towed away as things stand.
There will follow from this a tsunami of new fines, tickets etc

I thought that more tan 18" from the kerb had always been forbidden in the Highway Code and the councils just had not realised that there was an untapped source of revenue.

Whenever I notice that I have parked diagonally in the middle of the road I wonder whether there are any laws against it that might be deployed against me. But I don't do it every time, just sometimes.
Of course given the chance council jobsworths will go round taking photos of vehicles that are waiting or have just dropped someone off and sending blood-pressure-boosting NIPs to their owners. I sometimes wonder what the actual death rate is from that sort of thing.

when i first read it i thought, 'brilliant now the selfish gits that park over my dropped kerb and block access to my garage will get some comeuppance'... as there's a lot more likelihood of a the local warden on a moped dealing with it, than there ever would be the local police
but then i've thought about it....and realised my wife and i will get done as well, won't we, despite us owning the place and not minding if we block our own property

Norfolk parking?
It was handed down to me that 'norfolk parking' was so-called because it allowed room for the turkeys - which are prevalent in Norfolk - to get around the car.
Surely I am not the only BRer to have heard of that?
