Suddenly stopped working. Am told ths is due to a failed relay. Is this so and if so where can I find the offending relay ?

On my 2000 530TD the relay you're looking for is in a plastic box on the right hand side in the engine bay (below air filter unit). However studying the Bentley manual I don't think this is the problem (I have the same problem------it wipes when set in the No.1 position even though there's not a drop of water on the screen when the wipers should not wipe).
I'm going to have a new mirror fitted tomorrow (only taken 3 weeks to get it!) so I'll be asking my dealer. I suspect the infra red sender/receiver unit has packed in but hopefully he'll know for sure. I'll let you know if I have your address.

did you find out about my relay problem ? There are three relays attached to the fuse box in boot - above the battery. Would one of these be the offender ?
