1997 Passat central locking

1997 Passat central locking - jpfarrello
The rear n/side door no longer locks/unlocks when the central locking is activated. All other doors and boot still work. Any ideas please?

If you're unlucky one (or more) of the wires will be broken between the "B" pillar and the door. Peeling back the rubber boot should show you. All of mine broke ( a clue was that the relevant speaker stopped working) I was able to solder them and, at present, they're still working.

Call me slow, but just had look and six of the wires were broken, all now fied.

Had this on my 97 Passat - I believe the c/l gubbins is part of the lock, so the whole lock mechanism was changed.
(I assume current shape Passat - previous Passat had vacuum c/l; a leak would stop activating a lock, but would cause the pump to fail if not seen to promptly...)
