Polo Gearbox Selector Shaft Oil Leak - Scampy

My wifes 1996 Polo D appears to have an oil leak from the gear box selector shaft. Is this an easy job to replace the oil seal by removing the selector fingere from the selector shaft or does the mounting bracket/linkage need to be disconnected? The gearbox is a cable gear linkage type
