Auctionview, CAP and Glasses - smokie
I have full access to Auctionview and am using it as a possible source of a car for my daughter (having previously successfully bought 4 cars at auction).

Could someone who knows please explain the (sometimes vast) difference between the CAP and Glass's guide, and advise which is usually nearer the actual selling price? Or is it somewhere in between?

For instance, check current Leon's for sale - in many cases the Glass's CLN trade price is as much as nearly £1k over the top CAP price, which seems a huge difference. The figure to trust is, I suppose, the BCA sample - but that isn't always present.

Of course, the value of a car is only what someone is prepared to pay on the day.

Having said that, I have used the CAP book as guide for the price I should be paying for a car, and Glass's as a guide to the price I should ask for it.

When I was trading repo'd cars I found that Glass's was always somewhat optimistic and CAP nearer the mark.
